Todd Lawrence
Todd felt God calling him to preach at the young age of 18, but instead of reaching out and taking God’s hand and letting Him lead, Todd ran.
In 2002, his nephews tragic suicide changed all that. Even before his nephews death, God had once again started pulling on Todd’s heartstrings and Todd and his family began going back to church, and Todd even taught a Sunday School class for a while. In the aftermath of this family tragedy, Todd and other members of his family knew God had to be glorified, even in the devastating loss they had all experienced. The family formed a non-profit organization- Butterflies From Heaven Ministries. This ministry shared the love of Christ and fed the homeless primarily on the streets of Dallas, Texas. It was during this time that Todd realized God had not given up on His call on Todd’s life to preach. So in the summer of 2001, Todd became a licensed preacher, and a year later he was ordained.
Through the ministry of Butterflies From Heaven, Todd and everyone involved became stronger in their faith. For a long while they all believed God was leading them to make this their lifelong work. They fervently prayed for God to open doors for them. They applied for grants. They continued to pray. But that just was not God’s plan for them. It became evident that this ministry was only intended to be for a season of their lives. It served as a jumping off point for Todd’s life in ministry, and it changed each life involved beyond measure.
Were it not for the tragedy he experienced, Todd may not have ever taken the step of obedience in accepting God’s calling in his life. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
In the summer of 2003, Todd became the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Kildare, Texas, and then was later called to serve as Senior Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas. He now serves as the Senior Pastor for i4029 Ministries.
